We embraced a model of trust-based philanthropy. Trust-based philanthropy seeks to address the imbalance of power between nonprofits and foundations by minimizing hurdles like lengthy applications and paperwork and maximizing peer-to-peer collaboration.
The LendaHand Alliance Cohort is a multi-year investment in 10 transformational nonprofit organizations in our community. Each cohort member will receive $125,000 a year for the next three years, along with getting access to the Foundation’s business expertise and social capital.
Our Community Impact Grants are small, one-time grants made to innovative non-profits that are on their way to making a big difference in the community. It’s our hope that these grants provide the stepping-stones for our future LendaHand Alliance Cohort members. This year, we donated a total of $160,000 to three local nonprofits.
With Dollars for Doers, The LendingTree Foundation donates $25 for every hour an employee spends volunteering at a nonnprofit of their choice.
With Bright Funds, LendingTree employees can apply for a match to almost any nonprofit they choose, stretching their charitable dollars even further.
As part of LendaHand Week, we co-hosted the Game of Codes with LendaHand Alliance Cohort members, LendingTree and the Hornets, where middle school students were invited to design and present video games.
In 2020, we made a pledge of $2.5 million to the Housing Impact Fund (HIF). In 2021, HIF acquired three local affordable housing apartment complexes.
Through our three-year pledge of $750,000 to the Charlotte Arts Infusion Grant, we’ve made a long-term commitment to supporting artistic learning, growth and expression in our community.
Back in 2012, LendingTree CEO Doug Lebda decided to give each LendingTree employee $200 to donate to the cause of his or her choice. In 2021, 775 employees participated, totaling $155,000 in donations from LendingTree corporate philanthropy.
